Premier Landscape Design & Installer in New Milford, CT
Creative Minds Landscaping updates outdoor spaces across western Connecticut with practical design and clean construction. Working as a landscape design and installer in New Milford, CT for 11 years, our small crew builds stone patios, plants healthy garden beds, and solves tricky drainage issues. We focus on outdoor environments built for real life and changing New England weather.
What Goes Into Building a Landscape That Lasts
A lasting yard transformation takes more than dropping in a few shrubs and tossing down pavers. We look closely at your property’s slope, soil quality, shade patterns, and water runoff before digging starts. That groundwork keeps stonework level and helps plants survive through hot summers and freezing winters.
2D & 3D Design Concepts
Detailed layouts and 3D visual plans let you review every patio corner, retaining wall line, and plant bed before site work begins.
Custom Patios and Walkways
Outdoor sitting areas laid with regional bluestone, natural fieldstone, or dense concrete pavers over deep, compacted stone bases engineered to resist winter ground shifts. See our patio and walkway work.
Plantings Tailored to Local Soil
Carefully selected native perennials, ornamental trees, and lawn turf picked to fit your yard’s specific sunlight, acidity, and soil depth.
Stone & Block Retaining Walls
Heavy-duty structural retaining walls built to stop erosion on steep banks, hold back soil, and turn unused slopes into flat, usable lawn tiers.
Fire Features & Outdoor Kitchens
Built-in stone fire pits, cooking counters, seat walls, and subtle low-voltage lights so you can keep using your yard after dark.
Fixing Yard Drainage and Grading
Regrading uneven ground, laying French drains, and setting up water diversion systems that pull standing water away from your home foundation.
Why Invest in Professional Yard Work?
Taking care of your yard pays off in everyday usability. Fixing uneven slopes and setting up solid drainage keeps heavy rain from washing away topsoil or pooling near your home.
Choosing hardscapes built on proper deep bases means you won’t spend weekends resetting sunken pavers or fighting crumbling retaining walls. Good site prep and right-fit regional plants give you an outdoor space that looks settled and stays easy to keep up year after year.

We recently had the great experience of working with Crisitan and his team on a complicated pool patio and water feature. He installed retaining walls pillars and was fantastic. His team was on site every day he was easily reachable and always accommodating on adds we had. His attention to detail and explanation of the process was excellent. I would strongly recommend him for any masonry or landscape work. We could not be more pleased with our results.Posted on Google![]()

Avoid this business at all cost. As one of the reviewers said in one of the reviews which I agree and has experienced, Cristian Sanchez suddenly will not reply to your email or text messages. He will abandon customers just like that. Absolutely very unprofessional. He will sound very helpful at first when he is trying to sell his business but will abandon clients just like that when he thinks he already got what he wanted and moves on. Only thinking of himself and not his clients. I sent messages via email and text but he never replied to any after he got what he wanted. FYI I have masked my name for privacy reason and the business owner would say I was never in their list but I can assure you I had business with this company which should be avoided.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us
How long will the work take?
Timelines depend on project size and excavation needs. A simple walkway or small garden bed update often wraps up in 3 to 5 workdays. Larger builds, like multi-tier stone patios with retaining walls, integrated lighting, and extensive regrading, usually take 2 to 3 weeks. We give you an estimated schedule before starting so you know when site work, masonry, and planting will happen.
What areas do you cover?
Creative Minds Landscaping serves residential clients across New Milford, CT, along with neighboring towns throughout Litchfield and Fairfield counties. Working locally means we are used to regional ground conditions, local town regulations, and short growing seasons. We handle site visits, layout design, and full site construction directly.
Which stone and paver materials hold up best?
We install natural bluestone, granite, fieldstone, and high-density interlocking concrete pavers. New England winter freezes put heavy pressure on stonework, so we set every surface over a thick base of processed gravel and sand. For retaining structures, we use engineered wall blocks or natural stacked stone matched to your property style.
When is the best season to start construction?
Exterior construction in our area runs from early spring through late fall. Hardscapes like stone patios, walkways, and block walls can be built continuously until the ground freezes. For trees, shrubs, and perennial beds, planting in spring or early autumn helps root systems establish without suffering from intense summer heat.
How do you handle heavy runoff and steep hills?
We check site pitch and water patterns before laying stone or planting. Depending on where water collects, we install French drains, dry wells, swales, or catch basins to route water away from outdoor living areas and house foundations. Fixing water flow first keeps topsoil from washing out and prevents stone bases from shifting.
Will I need to spend every weekend weeding and pruning?
Not unless you want to. We tailor planting choices to match how much time you want to spend outdoors. If you want a low-maintenance yard, we lean on hardy native perennials, ground covers, deep bark mulch, and larger stone features. If you enjoy tending a garden, we can include delicate flowering shrubs and manicured hedges that reward regular care.
Can you work around mature trees or existing features?
Yes. We often build new stone features and garden beds around healthy mature trees, existing rock ledges, or older structures. Protecting existing roots is part of our excavation routine. We keep heavy equipment on designated access paths to avoid compacting soil around mature root zones or tearing up healthy lawn areas you want to keep.
Is hiring a contractor really necessary for paver patios?
Professional installation comes down to base work and heavy equipment. DIY patio projects often fail because the excavated base isn’t dug deep enough or compacted correctly, causing pavers to settle unevenly after the first winter freeze. Our crew brings 11 years of experience, proper compaction machinery, and clear knowledge of site pitch so water drains away properly.
